Everybody Needs Their Jeeple

I’ve always wanted a Jeep. I finally got one. It’s almost five years old with 70K miles, but it’s new to me. I didn’t realize I got a whole tribe with it though.

Technically, I have a Jeep mullet. It’s a Jeep body with a truck bed. It’s business in the front and a tailgate party in the back. It’s great. It has the aerodynamics of a toaster. I love it. Here’s an amazing commercial for it starring the one and only Bill Murray.

I’ve learned there’s some rules of etiquette for Jeep owners. When you pass another Jeep you do the super-secret Jeep waive. You leave a duck on someone’s Jeep if you want to wish them well. You store said ducks on your dashboard. And I’ve heard if you ever breakdown, it will be a Jeep owner who will be the first to stop and help.

It really is a fun group to be adopted into. Somedays I’ll kind of smile after passing several Jeeps and having people waive that waive only Jeepers know about (including you too now that you’ve read this). When I come out of a store to discover a new duck for my dashboard, I always document the moment with an IG pic. I’m so cool, I know. Tell me about it.

All the waives and ducks and things got me to thinking about community. We all need that group that gets us. Those few brave souls who are willing to associate with us. Some call this group their “ride or die.” Whose your group?
