When it comes to the Trinity, there’s a lot of ways to get it wrong. If you look at church councils of past centuries, you will see they gave a lot of attention to ways to protect what Christians believe about the Triune God. Theologian Alister McGrath says the doctrine of the Trinity is a “safeguard doctrine” to protect the biblical mystery of God the Father, Son, and Spirit.
